'We are glad to announce the 2nd Workshop on Cell Phone/Tower Radiation Hazards and Solutions to be held on 9th July 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) organized by Prof. Girish Kumar, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. The first workshop was held on 20th Nov 2011 at VMCC, IIT Bombay. More than 100 people had attended the workshop including several representatives from cellular industry, doctors, researchers, concerned citizens and eminent Bollywood celebrity supporting the cause. The objective is to create awareness of health risk associated with long term cell phone/ tower radiation exposure, harmful biological effects on plants growth, animals, bees and insects and also to explore the recent advances in this field.

As we have witnessed, Corix and Hydro are becoming more aggressive in their attempt to fulfill the mandate to install smart meters on every home and business province wide by the end of the year.   More and more, installers are using forceful language in an effort to intimidate people to accept the Smart Meter without any more said.  Recently, some installers have even told occupants that they could/would bring police next time.

You need to know your rights, the limits of the police, and how to respond to any acts of intimidation by either the installer or the RCMP.  Attached is a letter you can use in this eventuality.  The form itself is designed to be completed by the occupant in advance, and signed by the occupant to give to the police should Corix actually call an officer for support. 
Our lawyer recommends you show it to anyone, any Corix or Hydro employee, making a threat. There is no legal justification for police involvement if you, yourself, do not make threatening gestures, (e.g. shaking a fist) or statements (e.g. I will throw you off my property.) 

Included is advice about your legal rights, the limits of police officers in a civil action, and a reminder to just keep saying "NO."  

Please make copies for your friends and neighbours, and keep a copy handy to read to any Corix installer who threatens to call the police. If you have a video camera, keep it handy.

"Corix takes the position that they can enter my property and do an installation on the basis of some lawful authority. I take the position that there is no lawful authority which entitles them to do that. There is a dispute between Corix, acting as agent for BC Hydro, and me, the property owner or occupant, as to whether Corix is within the scope of its authority to come and enter my property and install a wireless radiofrequency monitoring and metering device. In the absence of the issuance of the BC Utilities Commission of a Certificate of Convenience and Public Necessity, a civil dispute has arisen between me and Corix/BC Hydro as to whether their agency is acting within the scope of their authority.

"Pending the resolution of that civil dispute, I as legal occupant of this private property, by virtue of my ownership/tenancy to the property, hereby deny and prohibit Corix, acting as agent for BC Hydro, from entering my property for the purpose of installing a wireless radiofrequency monitoring and metering device, also known as a "Smart" meter. At the present time, I have chosen to retain the analogue meter.

"Furthermore, in the event that access to my property is being sought by any police agent, I deny such access on the basis that
a) no search warrant has been issued
b) there is no emergency at hand in which the welfare or safety of any individual is at stake and
c) the police do not take the position that they are entering for the purpose of investigating a crime in progress, or on the basis of suspected criminality in progress.  

"I request that my civil liberties, rights and freedoms are respected."

On May 26, 2012, at the upcoming BCCPAC, please support Resolution #17 "Parent Choice Regarding Exposure to EMF Emissions"

(BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils) This resolution is not asking to remove Wi-Fi from all schools, but to provide wireless-free schools of choice. (Similar to French immersion, Montessori, or schools that emphasize a certain subject/sport, which are already available in B.C.)

It has taken hundreds of hours of work and debate in the BCCPAC Safety Committee to advance this resolution to the table. This is a much-needed opt-out solution for parents who want to follow the advice for precaution, as well as for children who have negative biological reaction to the pulsed microwave radiation emitted by Wi-Fi and wireless electronic devices in schools. These children are currently suffering physical symptoms while attending classes, or have to be withdrawn from schools because they are unable to take personal measures to avoid such exposure in campuses with Wi-Fi installed . . . "The Ashland City Council has approved an opt-out option for residents who don't want radio frequency wave-emitting utility meters at their homes -- and they won't be charged hefty fees for their decision.

"The council adopted the opt-out policy on Tuesday night and directed city staff not to charge proposed fees of $120 to opt out, plus $20 each month during the time a home doesn't have a so-called "smart meter . . .

This was first aired in 2010 as part of a 16x9 news item about Wi-Fi in Schools.  Concerned parents are interviewed about effects of Wi--Fi in their children's schools, and  Dr. David O. Carpenter sheds light on Health Canada's lack of diligence in addressing the problem.

B.C. Hydro is in the process of installing wireless "smart" meters on 99% of homes and businesses in the province of British Columbia, with a target completion date of December, 2012.  They are doing so without due diligence or public education, using "implied consent" as their reason to proceed without permission of the people of B.C. 

This form letter is for those who have had a chance to learn more about the negative effects of living and/or working in the vicinity of wireless smart meters, who do not accept the risk this involves, and who wish to officially register their opposition in the form of a demand for removal of the wireless smart meter, and the re-installation of a wired, analogue meter.

"On behalf of Andrea Collins and the Citizens for Safe Technology Society ("the Complainants"), the following is submitted in reply to BC Hydro's submissions dated April 25, 2012, in the context of our reconsideration application with respect to the above-referenced matter.

A. Operation of the UCA by default BC Hydro asserts that the CEA exemption was meant to capture the smart meter system. We agree. This issue arises because there are two kinds of smart meter systems: hard-wired systems and wireless systems, the latter of which are accompanied by a host of health and environmental concerns.

"The Legislature and Cabinet knew, at all material times, that both these options existed. If it was intended that the exemption apply to the wireless option, why did the Legislature and Cabinet fail to make a specific reference in that regard - either by describing a system that includes a wireless component or by wireless functionality?

"The failure of the Legislature and Cabinet to bring, by explicit reference, wireless communication technology into the scope of the CEA exemption, results, by default, in the application of the UCA's CPCN requirement.  We advance this assertion based on the following reasoning . . .
